Regional Partnership Funding

RegionalPartnership
With Regional Partnership Funding (RPF), DDP supports initiatives promoting online freedom and digital protection for human rights defenders, which operate in a single country or region. These can include initiatives that provide digital or holistic security support to human rights defenders, and support access to a free and open internet. The funding provided can be up to €50,000. The last call for applications opened on the 22nd of April 2020. The deadline to submit proposals was the 22nd of May 2020.
Regional Partnership Funding can be used for a wide variety of programmes of support to HRDs and internet freedom. These can include, for example:
  • provision of internet access in cases of shutdowns, slowdowns, censorship or infrastructural damage;
  • provision of training or accompaniment on digital security, or other aspects of security and protection to HRDs at risk;
  • provision of expert advice, digital forensic analysis, hosting or other technical services to civil society;
  • lobby and advocacy work for digital rights and internet freedom.
In order to be considered, applicants should share DDP’s commitment to strengthening local resources and capacities. It is also of fundamental importance that all proposed projects take into account the needs of women and trans people, racial, ethnic, and sexual minorities, disabled persons, etc., as necessary.
